meridiano is a situated form of listening within the andean-amazonian maloca built by vitalia letuama yucuna in the basins of the suárez river canyon. it is composed of three hundred and sixty-five (365) fique threads, whose tones, shades, and textures vary according to their time of exposure to sunlight, drying, and the hardening produced by the wind. its materiality is also inscribed by the plant’s hydric flows, regulated by lunar cycles, making sensible a series of ecological processes that traverse the fiber.
meridiano organizes these material characteristics according to the 2026 solar calendar situated in barichara: a cycle unfolding between two solstices, two zenith passages, and two equinoxes. this temporal composition is accompanied by a process of collective sowing, which consisted of weaving the lower part of the work on a stone from juntas: the place where the suárez river and the chicamocha river meet. this gesture brings the fiber together with a fluvial memory of the territory, re-membering a fishing community and exceeding the imagination of these canyons as desert —and therefore empty— territories.
from this orientation, meridiano reterritorializes a possible ecopoetic configuration in which agencies such as light, wind, water, stone, collective gesture, and vegetal time take part. these ecological memories of the fiber are amplified through a system of contact microphones and resonators, seeking to activate a vibratile dimension of the material processes inscribed in each thread.
meridiano was activated through a listening session during the spring equinox, in march 2026, and will be reactivated during the autumn equinox, in september 2026.
ATMOSFÉRICA
atmosférica is a live performance in which auracles crafted with Zapocaya Amazonian seeds and Tuku fibres are activated through touch, friction, movement and vibration. Situated between instrument, listening condition and material archive, the auracles unfold a sonic atmosphere where vegetal matter, gesture and resonance become entangled. Their textures, pulses and micro-movements open a space for listening to the memories carried by fibres and seeds: humid traces, ecological relations and more-than-human forms of presence.
Oozing reveries adrift through aquiferous folds
oozing reveries adrift through aquiferous folds is a sonic
gesture of desedimentation — a tracing, oozing, and sliding with
the murmurous underworlds of earth. it imagines a mode of
growth that expands downward - not to turn away from the
surface, but to incorporate the subterranean into the fabric of
planetary sense-making.
the piece attends and attunes with geosystems that sustain the
planet’s metabolic pulses, sounding porous movements into
multiplicity and drift. the ear moves through viscous
undergrounds in constant process of reinvention —through
friction, hum, saturation, and entangled lives— retooling the
relation between body and ground.
to listen downward is to exercise a mode of planetary care — a
gesture toward the unseen but not the inert. beneath the
surface, earth teems with living, morphing systems whose
entangled rhythms sustain life and unsettle inherited ways of
knowing. what lies below holds possibilities for reimagining how
we relate to a planet still becoming. precisely because it
resists visibility, the underground calls on the ear — to
imagine and enact the presence of what lies beneath. listening
becomes an imaginative and embodied method for engaging the
unseen, for attuning to the life of the planet beyond surface
logics.
through layered field recordings, infrasonic modulations, and
textural sonic strata, the composition seeks not to resolve but
to dwell — in sediment, in drift, with what resounds beneath.
